"Incoming report: missile locks on the Rainbow...that's us, sir."
Sela nodded. What a name the ship, the Rainbow. A Sorrow-class Command Conquerer, the Rainbow was one of only three. By far, it was the most powerful ship in the Republic fleet. And someone had the nerve to name it the Rainbow?! Sela just wondered.
"Sir, I'm moving a fighter screen into position," spoke a grizzled tactics officer.
"Go ahead." Sela glanced at the screen, and was reassured to see the fighter waves were Nova One, Three, and Four. Nova was the best fighter squadrons in the fleet; all veteran, all skill. They would eliminate most bombers. The pinpoint laser defense systems would destroy the rest -- minimal damage, at most.
On the other hand, even the Rancor-9 Shielding unit couldn't stand full fire for too long, and the proton torperdoes were starting to cause heavy damage. The generator was not destroyed yet, but a lucky strike might take it out. And with 1000 missiles flying at you, one was bound to get lucky.
"Prepare a microjump...let's see...19-12-4-55. On my signal."
The torpedoes began to come -- although some were EMPed and sent spiraling away -- and shielding began to descend. It was worth it, though. Sela watched with glee as the CIS ships began to wink out, one by one. Her own ships were under fire as well, but the Crossed V formation was providing the crossfire she counted on. This Hiaca charecter was losing. And Sela always won.
"Fair is fair," she said brightly.

((Really? My bad.
Let see:
The Rainbow is my flagship I'm on.
My fighter waves of Nova 1, 3, and 4 are attacking your bomber waves.
Your CIS ships can't all be in the right position to fire on the Rainbow (my ship), can they? Some CIS ships have to be behind the others, so I'm assuming they are moving into position so that they can shoot at the Rainbow.
The CIS ships that can hit the Rainbow are firing. Shields are losing strength but holding for the moment.
The Rainbow prepared a very short hyperspace jump to escape when shields reach critical.
The missiles you fired (assuming they are normal missiles not energy missiles), some are confused from my EMP pulse and they go out of control.
My own ships which have jumped out of space and are shooting at your ships.
I looked back at your post. I thought you said all ships concentrate fire on my flagship. You said all proton torps. I will edit according.
Proton torps are not energy, they are conventional. They can be EMPed (not all, some.)
Explanation given? Apologies for misreading your post.))

Hiaca watched as the Republic ships began to jump. Fortunatly for him they appeared right behind his fleet. "Ah. I was worried for a second that they were fleeing. Although I wouldn't have been suprised. Now where is the imbecile responsible for not activating the gravity well!" he said with venom.
The Republic had gained a good tactical position through this simple yet easily preventable manuver. Hiaca was going to be sure that whomever was responsible for such an outrageous blunder would be duly punished.
"Alright. Before the gravity well is activated all ships jump to the previous coordinates of the Republic fleet. I don't want the full force of their guns on our backs." Hiaca said tactically. A few moments later the CIS fleet jumped forward and began to turn around to, once again, face the enemy fleet. "Continue to fire whatever guns are in range of their ships!" Hiaca growled.
Once they had jumped Tygris appeared on screen and began to speak. "Very well Tygris. Continue your assualt on the Republic flagship." Only a moment after he cut the connection, Hiaca was attempting to set up a link with the Rainbow.

Tyrgis had expected more in the way of orders, but he was hardly complaining. The less he was told to do, the more he could improvise, and the gorier the results. For the moment, however, he was in a spot of trouble. The Republic fleet had launched fighters before he could cripple the hangar bays, and the enemy squadrons were beginning to pick off the bombers he was supposed to be escorting. For the sake of his contract and the joy of slaughter he would have to deal with these insolent foes.
Perhaps they had failed to detect his Diamond-Boron Missiles. That was their mistake, one they would soon greatly regret. The missile launchers on either side of his ship glowed, then fired repeatedly. 80,000 credits worth of missiles down the drain, but everything within 50 meters of each of the four detonations was a hunk of floating space debris. When the cloud of destruction cleared, Tyrgis would know just how well the missiles had done against the tightly-packed fighters. The remaining bombers continued to rain destruction on the enemy flagship, beginning to target the engines in the hopes of crippling it...

"Ma'am, the fighters!" shouted a junior officer.
Sela jerked around the a second viewscreen. 200 fighters had just winked off the board. "Who...?"
"Cross-patterning...explosion patterns match only one type of missile: Diamond-Boron."
"That doesn't sound like the CIS..."
"The missiles appeared to come from a...cargo ship? Could be a ploy, but it seems pretty suspicion to me."
"You are a junior officer. Your job is to inform, not opinionate," Sela said.
The officer blushed. "Yes, ma'am."
"But go ahead and tell the Nara to bring itself near. Order it...to eliminate the target. Collateral damage." The Nara was free of engagements, and wasn't overkill. Good strategy won battles. And a bit of paranoia. Collateral damage, indeed.
